We nearly nicked an injury time winner from a corner right?

To be fair to Allardyce, he was capable of setting us up to get those clean sheets, but we would never have had that sense that we might score every time we attack. Much more deliberation in the way we break out now, even without our start players.

Last year would have been wave after wave of attacks coming in to our box with the odd break that would probably fall apart before reaching the half way line.

with the injuries we have, being hard to beat is the first port of call which West Ham have been away at Man United and home to an in form Stoke That Bilic can adapt the style to the conditions is something we could only ever dream of under Allardyce, so kudos to him

Agree that we should keep Carroll unless someone comes in with a decent offer... we do need a decent striker to replace the injured Sakho though.... most likely a loan, but hopefully someone decent rather than the usual January Sullivan South American who makes one sub appearance.... I agree about a Defoe type!

Sea mouse, agree with almost all of that but I would keep Carroll, let's see him when he really is match fit and we get a system going to accommodate him 👍

It's an absurd situation that could either flip bad or come incredibly good

We are close to half way through the season and sitting eighth.

Of the 11 teams around us and above us, Only Watford, Leicester and Spurs have beaten us. Spurs are the only pedigree team who have beaten us, no one else has, not Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool or Everton, never mind Arsenal and Man City. Incredibly we have played most of these teams away from home. We are highly likely to overtake Leicester, Palace and Watford at some point as they start to crack under pressure.

This despite crippling injuries and constantly carrying two to three players, who should never get near the first team - Carrol. Jenkinson and the biggest liability of all Noble.

If this was an athletics race, we'd be Mo Farrah 4 laps from home, sitting pretty in 8th and all the other runners starting to struggle while we haven't even kicked yet

I just hope to god Ed Sullivan and Compo see the potential here and do buy big in January. This calls for a Kitson / Hartson moment. If we could swap Carroll for a goal poacher like Defoe or some one quick. Sakho is too injury prone to lead the line on his own, he needs support.

One 10 to 15 goal striker in January and we could get on the brink of Champion's League. That's how close we are!
How typical that the Spunk Brothers will spend nothing, and we just go backwards, as we always do.

Exactly....if we think back to last year....what would our team have looked like against Stoke if we'd had our 5 or 6 best, most creative players out injured?

We'd definitely have got 0, but, I don't think Stoke would have.

Yesterday? No. I had to work so gave someone else my season ticket. I've seen it happen plenty over the last several years though. If it wasn't the case yesterday, then good.

Peroni...the media keep going on about no win in 6 games. We have only had 2 league defeats in the last 13 league games. Our current run of "poorer" firm is due entirely to injuries and being up against inform teams - a perfect storm. However, as you say, I m still optimistic as we have picked up points in an attacking manner with a depleted team. The glass is very much half full.

Look at the yids and scousers today. Hope the yid and scouse fest now ends.

And I've still got the feeling we're going to give someone a right tonking rather than getting one ourselves.

This is good.

Conspiracy theory says...

Bilic playing Carroll to get him fit...dispel injury fears...shop window to move him out for a fee in January...

Likely buyers...Desperate Toon...Sunderland...

Sullivan ...words in Bilic's ear...

Nudge...Nudge...Wink...Wink...Know what I mean...
